A Simplified Christmas

The kitchen still isn't done, but we have countertops now, so it looks a lot like a kitchen. Still, there is a lot of work coming up which will involve stirring up dust and making things sticky so we decided not to put up or tree, or really do anything that would signify that this is some kind of important holiday. I did make gift baskets for certain people and I still have a few gifts that I need to mail which will arrive late and then we can stick a fork in Christmas.
We spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Asheville at the Dry Ridge Inn, which is a B&B we've stayed at four times now. We like it because the price is right, it's comfy and they have a hot tub. Since all I wanted for the weekend was some sleep, maybe a little shopping and a soak in the tub, this was the logical choice. I don't think I've known 20 minutes of absolute awesomeness recently quite like having my lower half submerged in 102 degree water with my upper body exposed to the 35 degree air. It know that sounds like equally opposed parts of Aaah and Hell no but it is really the best way to experience the hot tub. The only reason I hesitate to buy a hot tub at home is because I live in the Piedmont. A hot tub any time between June and September in this region is like offering more rope to a bungee jumper.
All I want right now is sleep and puppies. And sleepy puppies. And sleeping on puppies. Maybe I will feel more energetic in time for New Years.
