Notes from the road: Part Coach

Overheard on the plane:

Imperious indoor-voice challenged woman: "I'm not trying to be a know-it-all, or anything."
Her unfortunate traveling companion: "Oh, no worries there."

Snap!

Notes from the road: Part Something

"Live free or die"
It's not just a motto; it's a slogan on a license plate! It's a slogan you might see on the back of motorcycles in New England driven by people who don't have to wear helmets. These people walk the walk. They will live free or die, messily if need be.
I have also noticed that restaurants are not required to display a health rating on their walls here. I only noticed because I have been in several places where I felt the need to look for one. Live free or die of botulism!
Another note on restaurants: not required to have a bathroom. Live free or die of ruptured bladder!
Drivers are not required to carry liability insurance. Because you can live free or die when you strike somebody's new car and they kill you.
I'm just teasing. I love New England.

Notes from the road: Part Two

The menu on my hotel room tv has played the trailer for 300 so many times I think I have to watch it. That's the power of marketing, I guess. But these reviews are not very definitive:
1) The Boston Globe says "there's a stale, synthetic airlessness about the movie".
2) The Chicago Tribune says "the Citizen Kane of cinematic graphic novels".
That helps.

I knew this trip was going to be demanding so I've been eating fruits and vegetables, getting up early to exercise in the gym and sweating my stress away in the sauna at night instead going out for drinky. I miss drinky. But I'm going to stay focused because This is Sparta!!

I really don't need a reviewer's opinion on this. What could possibly be wrong with a big, crazy sword battle movie?
