Finally!
This has been a banner freaking week. Not only did I get those 3 letters I've been working for, let's see, about 5 years now (but let's face it only about 3 1/2 years was actual work, the rest was laziness to send in the paperwork; then send it again; and again; and again; but I'm not complaining), but the kitchen we've been remodeling for 6 months is now fully armed and operational. The ability to destroy a planet is nothing compared to a homemade pot of borscht. Therefore, that is first meal Phillip requested in this modern marvel of gorgeous engineering. I was surprised he didn't ask for something more challenging like rack of baby, but this makes sense. Growing up in the frozen tundra of Green Bay, Wisconsin, a meal like borscht would be a staple because it is so much like the Russian steppe. Associations with things we ate and enjoyed as children are the definition of comfort food. I am happy to oblige.

I'm very happy with the new refrigerator. I don't know if I've seen a bigger one outside of a commercial setting and I'm finding I can pack a limitless amount of stuff in there. The manual explains that it comes equipped with a space/time displacement setting, so when it gets too full excess leftovers are stored on an ice planet in the Andromeda galaxy. You can only get this refrigerator in Sweden. Also, the bottom mount freezer is the shizzle.

I'm not putting up any long shots of the full landscape yet, because it isn't really really done. The backsplash will be put in sometime in March, but here's a preview:

I can say that as far as the dogs and I are concerned, this nonsense is all done and we can finally relax.

For some people, however, the work is never done.

Oh, thank God. What I really need to know is what/how you've been eating for the past 6 months??? I mean, besides bebe's on the grill.
Bottom freezer is really the only way to go. Is beautiful. Can't wait to see the whole thing!
So this means you're cooking me dinner soon, right?
Also, have you calculated how much beer will fit in the refrigerator? I would like to know in fluid ounces, if possible.
Me, me dinner too! Oh, wait, does the "no dinner for Amber and Lori ever" rule apply to Amber and Heather?
